Thrice-crowned MVP Jokic sustains a 'heartbreaking' injury to his knee.

The star center on the court
Jokic secured the NBA's Most Valuable Player honor in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple National Basketball Association MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee while the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 against the Miami Heat.

The star player sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter during an accidental contact with teammate Spencer Jones.

Jones came down on the footwear of the MVP, and he instantly went down to the court clutching his knee.

The veteran player, that leads the league season in boards and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before sustaining the problem.

He will undergo an scan on Tuesday to evaluate the seriousness of the problem.

"Right away, Jokic realized he was hurt," commented Denver coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who is injured, it's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as him. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"We will continue as a team. Clearly, currently, I am more worried primarily about Jokic personally and the letdown of facing a situation like that."
