The skiing legend Optimistic of Being 'in prime form' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Alpine star Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, on the back of claiming a podium spot for the fourth time in five World Cup races.

The 41-year-old, who achieved a milestone by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere

Racing in the iconic venue for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing the runner-up spot.

"I didn't quite have enough direction on the first jump," the skier commented. "After that, I skied well. I'm happy with my run today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough."

This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also taken third in the downhill on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Injury

Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 as a result of ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in December 2024 after a partial knee replacement.

With 47 days remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is strongly positioned to compete for the United States at the next Olympics.

"At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has secured over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She currently holds a 69-point lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings.

This season's World Cup campaign features a nine more events taking place before the circuit finale in Norway on 21 March 2026.
