The President Calls Families of Shot Military Members to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in the capital.

“She was the individual that teachers desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed the program that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
