Red Cross Assists Militant Group in Recovery for Bodies of Captives in Gaza Strip

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stated that its personnel accompanied members of Hamas into zones of the Gaza Strip currently controlled by IDF authority to support the search for the bodies of Israeli hostages.

Truce Terms and Hostage Remains Return

As part of the truce negotiated by the United States, which began on 10 October, Hamas is required to return the remains of all Israeli hostages as soon as possible. As a reciprocal measure, the Israeli government has agreed to transfer the remains of 15 Palestinians for each Israeli.

The spokesperson continued: “Those involved to the hostilities established the procedures of the operation and delegated the Red Cross to act as a impartial mediator. We was not involved in the discussions.”

The group has stated it does not know the exact whereabouts of all the remains, saying it has been unable to communicate with a number of its units that had been holding the captives and were reportedly killed during Israeli bombardments.
