Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
