Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the untimely passing of esteemed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also refuted widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
