Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
