The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the well-loved sitcom "The Middle".

Stateside performer Finn, who featured in iconic programs including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
