American Armed Forces Conducts Lethal Strike in Eastern Pacific, Leading to Four Fatalities

According to a high-ranking military spokesperson, the US military carried out a lethal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four people.

“A US joint task force carried out a deadly attack on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization in international waters. Surveillance confirmed the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. A total of four male drug traffickers were killed, and no American forces were harmed.”

Background and Recent Strikes

The statement comes a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on social media, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund drug trafficking and other crimes, vowing to escalate the military buildup.

Just on Tuesday, the Pentagon said it had conducted strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Actions Amid Pressure

The administration has faced increasing demands to release video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have declined to do so. The administration has supported its efforts as a successful operation, saying it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is stretching the bounds of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has stated the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical objective. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff remarked the leader “aims to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a strategy to oust Venezuela's sitting leadership.
